M&M Attends Design-Build in Transportation Conference

MECHANICSBURG, PA | M&M will attend the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Design-Build in Transportation Conference, April 18-20 in Charlotte, N.C. The conference will include educational programs and networking events designed to showcase how design-build can save time, control costs, and increase the quality of the nation’s transportation projects.

“We recognize that the competitive landscape for bridge design services is in a state of transition,” said Michael F. Britt, PE, senior vice president and director of business development at Modjeski and Masters. “The old design-bid-build way of doing things is being supplemented by more collaborative project delivery models, such as design-build. With federal and state transportation funds at a premium, project owners are growing more cost conscious. As a result, they frequently select designers and contractors that are proven producers of highly efficient and cost-effective designs and construction products. This is one of the main reasons why Modjeski and Masters acquired Summit Engineering Group (Summit) last year.”

The acquisition of Summit helped Modjeski and Masters expand its service offerings in the design-build market. Summit has a proven track record working directly with contractors and can immediately bring that expertise to bear on current and future Modjeski and Masters projects.

To highlight its improved design-build and contractor relations capabilities, Modjeski and Masters will also debut a new quarterly newsletter for the contracting community.

“This is our way of showcasing how Modjeski and Masters is evolving to meet changing industry needs and best practices,” said Britt. “We will focus on our Four Pillars of Partnership: Innovation, Collaboration, Cost & Time Savings, and Risk Management. In conversations with contractors, we’ve found that these issues are always in the forefront and play a major role in deciding with whom they partner.”
