Portageville Bridge Recognized With ACEC New York Award of Excellence

NEW YORK, NY | Modjeski and Masters is proud to announce our selection for the Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New York. The firm was recognized with the Diamond award, ACEC’s highest honor, for the Portageville bridge replacement project in Portageville, NY.

Originally built in 1875, the historic Portageville bridge in Letchworth State Park was unable to meet the demands of Class 1 Heavy Freight. After performing an inspection, we led the structural design for the new 483-ft arch and flanking girder spans, performed track realignment design, and roadway and civil design. The new bridge is considered an iconic structure in one of the most scenic and awe-inspiring parks in the United States.

The annual ACEC New York Engineering Excellence Awards are presented to projects that encompass both the public and private sector in a variety of categories. The projects are judged on a rigorous set of criteria, which includes complexity, innovation and value to society. The awards will be presented during an awards gala at the Hilton Midtown in New York City on April 4, 2020.

“We are humbled to be honored by our peers who have demonstrated such expertise and dedication to the field of engineering,” said Mike Britt, President and CEO of Modjeski and Masters. “Winning a high honor like the Diamond award shows the quality of work that our engineers bring to every project we take on.”
