Project Information: New River Parkway between Hinton and Fall Branch and will generally follow the Raleigh County Route 26 for approximately 6.6 miles. The existing roadway is mostly a one lane asphalt road with no shoulders. The new Parkway will primarily serve the function of being a tour road and providing access to the New River recreational facilities. The new roadway will be two lanes with shoulders. Special design features will be used to minimize the use of cuts and fill. These features will include retaining walls, use of curb and gutters and low impact alignments. A number of major incidental structures will be required and include a bridge of approximately 500 feet in length, 7 open bottom box culverts, 3 oversized countersunk pipe culverts and approximately 16,000 feet of retaining walls. Modjeski and Masters, Inc. will provide engineering services for the study, design and preparation of construction contract plans and related documents for a segment of the New River Parkway. Preliminary plans and studies will be performed. Upon selection of a final alignment and structure types, final plans will be prepared. |
