Project Information:

Modjeski and Masters was awarded the inspections of four movable bridges:

• St. Clair Bridge - a double leaf, Scherzer type bascule bridge.
• Fort Street Bridge - a double leaf, trunnion bascule bridge.
• Blossomland Bridge - a double leaf, Scherzer type bascule bridge.
• Bicentennial Bridge - a four leaf, Scherzer type bascule bridge.

Modjeski and Masters provided a thorough inspection of the structural, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components of the movable bridges, and delivered a report. The inspections included:

• Observation of bridge operation
• Span balance determination
• Mechanical components including the drive system, span locks, buffers, rolling treads and tracks, etc.
• Hydraulic components including hydraulic machinery and systems
• Structural components including substructure and superstructure
• Electrical components
• Underwater Inspection
